Moeraki : Moeraki (“Sleepy Sky”) – boulders – hollow septarian concretions formed by Paleocene mudstone cementation (“growing” over 4.5 to 5 million years), exhibiting septaria (“cracks”) lined with brown and yellow calcite spar, occasionally with dolomite and/or quartz covering layers. Due to the distinct bimodal size distribution (one-third 0.5 to 1.0 metres (1.5 to 3 ft) in diameter, two-thirds from 1.5 to 2.2 metres (4.6 to 6.7 ft)) they are obviously eggs from 2 species of aliens … or dinosaur poo …

Penguin Place, Otago Peninsula : Penguin Place, Otago Peninsula (http://www.penguinplace.co.nz/index.html ): Yellow-eyed Penguins (Megadyptes antipodes) called Hoiho ("Noise-Shouter") by Maori. 65-70cm tall and weigh 5-6 kg. Life expectancy is 12-15 years. Daily foraging 5 and 25 km off the coast. Average dives 50 m are short (2-5 minutes). Sprat, juvenile red cod and squid, 15-25cm long. All prey is swallowed head first and regurgitated to feed the chicks.

Royal Albatross Centre, Otago Penisula : The Royal Albatross Colony, Taiaroa Head ((http://www.albatross.org.nz/ ) Northern Royal Albatross (Diomedea sanfordi) listed as an endangered species. Adults up to 9kg, wing span of 3 metres and flight speeds of 115+ mph. A single egg takes both parents around 80 days to incubate, and the chick is ready to fledge after around 240 days. At sea have a circumpolar range, feed on squid, which provides 85% of their diet, but they also eat fish.

Milford Sound Underwater Observatory : Milford Sound Underwater Observatory ((https://www.realjourneys.co.nz/) - circular stairs in a large vertical cylinder take you several metres under the surface of the Sound to the observation floor. The light is mostly ambient, filtered by the sea water above, and some artificial from the observation windows. The filtered light and glazing made white-balance and focusing problematic.
